In Chinese-speaking world, every family will put up spring couplets to ask for auspiciousness during the Lunar New Year. To make Saxon Bryant, one of our Fulbright Debate Coaches an unforgettable cultural immersion experience during his stays in Taiwan, Taichung Shi Yuan High School prepared a “Chinese spring couplets” DIY workshop after their weekly coaching class on January 4, 2022.
Teachers of Shi Yuan, guided Saxon and students to create unique Chinese spring couplets, especially instructed them to write “Fu (福, happiness)” on red papers and learned about the meaning of “being happiness”.
