Fulbright Tree-Planting Initiative
Background
On April 21, 2016, a tree was planted on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. honoring Senator Fulbright. Fulbright Taiwan is extending this new tradition by planting trees on as many campuses and school grounds as possible. We encourage our alumni to initiate and arrange a tree-planting event in the Senator’s honor on your campus, at your alma mater, or at other institutions to add a little beauty and capture a little carbon!

Plant a Tree Now!
- Event initiated by a Fulbrighter
- Planned Date: Spring or fall is the best planting season
- Location of planting: Cooperate with your institution for a tree-planting event
- Participants: Invite people to come and share Fulbright’s values of international cooperation through educational exchange
- The source/donor of the tree(s): Seek donors to cover the costs of the tree and an on-site reception
- Type of tree(s): Choose a variety native to and emblematic of your location; consult a landscape planner/groundskeeper of your institution for hints
- Plaque for the tree(s): A plaque will be donated by Fulbright Taiwan
- Records of the event: Write a short story (around 150 words in English/250 words in Chinese) of the Fulbright tree-planting event with 3-5 photos. We will post them on the Fulbright Taiwan Newsletter and our Facebook page to share with more people.
