The Fulbright Taiwan Debate Program and the Department of English of National Taiwan Normal University jointly hosted an online American Debate Education Forum on March 4, 2023, to familiarize Taiwanese high school English teachers and debate coaches with the intricacies of policy and public forum debate.
“Debate is a very meaningful and impactful activity. Behind the rational discussion and argumentation in a debate is an implicit insistence on values such as democracy and justice, which are also the core values shared between Taiwan and the United States. Taiwan’s English debate activities have flourished because of your active participation in our program,” said Dr. Randall Nadeau, Executive Director of the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (Fulbright Taiwan).
Throughout the Forum, our Fulbright Debate Coaches covered approaching debate as a strategic game, rebuttal strategy, best research practices, tournament preparation practices, and more! We hope these topics will be invaluable for coaches as they continue to spread debate throughout Taiwan!
