New Year, New Journey! FSE Welcomes 2022-2023 Fulbright U.S. Grantees (Research and Study Category)

When we stepping into September, it is the moment for FSE to welcome and host all Fulbright U.S. Grantees (research/study category) of the year. The Grantees are from awards of: Research (Scholar), Global Scholar, Research (Student), Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research, Debate Coach, Distinguished Award in Teaching Program as well as Master’s Degree Program.

Director Sandra Oudkirk, American Institute in Taiwan, and Dr. Randall Nadeau, Executive Director of the Foundation for Scholarly Exchange
On September 6-7, FSE hosts the Orientation and Welcome Reception for all Grantees. During the Orientation, we invite three American Alumni: Dr. Amie Parry, Professor in the Department of English at National Central University, Andrew Ryan, Producer/Host/Journalist at Radio Taiwan International, and Dr. Dale Albanese, Assistant Professor in the Department of Education at National Sun Yat-Sen University, to share their life experiences in Taiwan to the new Grantees. Additionally, we have two TaIwanese Alumni: Dr. Huang Kwei bo and Dr. Lan Pei Chia, to deliver keynote speeches on Taiwan’s Political, Economic, Social, and Cultural development and trends.

To make all Grantees to enjoy Taiwan’s unique foods, natural landscapes, and creative industries contents as soon as they can, FSE brings Taiwan’s Night Market Gourmets Top 16 to the Welcome Reception, including Boiling Salty Chicken, Steak with Black Pepper Sauce, Xiaolongbao, Lemon and Aiyu Jelly, Bubble Milk Tea, and so on. It is worth to mention that we prepare a Chinese Cultural Immersion Stand during the reception, which leads Grantees to learn about the beauty of Chinese calligraphy.

Thanks to American Institute in Taiwan, Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Taiwan Ministry of Education, and all program partners’ support of the Fulbright Taiwan Program, FSE will be able to continuously ignite the warm hopes on educational/cultural exchange and English critical thinking promotion between the U.S.-Taiwan shores.
